Former South Williamsport personal care home employee charged with five felonies

While employed at Insinger’s Personal Care Home at 6 E. Central Ave. in South Williamsport, Bobbi Jo Wettlaufer somehow obtained an 80-year-old resident’s personal bank information and stole an estimated $4,475 from his checking account by using a cash app on a cellphone or laptop during the month of March, borough police alleged in an affidavit. Investigators also alleged that Wettlaufer, 38, of 642 Cemetery St., obtained credit card information from the victim and added the credit card number to her cash app account, which allowed her to make a total of 17 illegal withdrawals from his account, police said.

Wettlaufer, who is no longer employed at Insinger’s, has been charged with five felonies, including identity theft, financial exploitation of an older adult or one who is care dependent, access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property. She waived her preliminary hearing on Monday before District Judge Gary Whiteman and remains free on $25,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
