Montgomery Borough Council member charged for second time in a year

A member of the Montgomery Borough Council and her boyfriend each face charges after a verbal altercation turned physical earlier this month, according to court documents.

The incident began as an argument over Laurel Kathryn Green, 45, of 62 Wagner Ave., Montgomery, attending a borough football game, which angered her boyfriend, Jason Wayne Reese, 48, state police said in an affidavit.

The two had been drinking alcohol when the hours-long argument erupted, Green allegedly told police.

At one point, Reese stood up, allegedly striking Green in the face with his head.

As the argument continued, it became physical and the pair began to wrestle, Green said, according to court documents.

Yelling and screaming was heard coming from the residence as police arrived, and Reese, who was allegedly heavily intoxicated at the time, was observed to be bleeding from his right ear, and to have a bloody cut on his nose, with blood on his chin as well.

Green had a bloody cut to her chin and forehead, police said in court filings.

Green and Reese were each arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment by District Judge Christian Frey. Green was released on $5,000 bail while Reese was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

At the time scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Green and Reese each pleaded guilty to a charge of summary harassment in exchange for the withdrawal of the simple assault charge.

This is the second time in a year that Green has faced charges.

In December 2024, Green was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child after her teenage daughter attempted to intervene during a late night, alcohol-fueled verbal argument between Green and Reese.

During the incident, Green struck her daughter, resulting in the teen sustaining a concussion.

The injury was so severe that the victim was forced to sit out the rest of her high school basketball season.

Green was found guilty of the simple assault charge, while being acquitted of the endangerment count, and sentenced to 24 months probation.

Starting at $2.99/week.
