Assault, abuse of 911 system among crimes alleged in Lycoming County district courts
Convicted felon incarcerated for failing to register his address
Convicted sex offender Georgio N. Rochon, 38, is back behind bars and faces three felony counts of failure to comply with registration requirements after he moved to “various residences” in the county without ever registering the addresses with the state police within the required time frame, it was alleged in a city police criminal complaint filed at the office of District Judge Aaron Biichle. The alleged offenses occurred during a three-week period between Sept. 16 and Oct. 8, police said. Following his recent arraignment, Rochon was jailed in the county prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. Rochon was convicted in September 2024 of felony charges of possession of child pornography and aggravated indecent assault, and was sentenced 12 to 24 months in prison. He was released from prison on Sept. 16 after serving a year behind bars.
Two men jailed in separate assault cases
Eric Thomas Kurtz Jr., 27, of 3731 Lycoming Creek Road, has been jailed on assault-related charges following a violent domestic disturbance in which he punched a woman several times in her face and put his left hand around her neck, “restricting her ability to breathe,” before fleeing the couple’s home with his daughter about 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 8, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. Kurtz was soon taken into custody and arraigned before Solomon on charges of felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
In another case, Marcus Darnell Watson, faces city police charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment for striking his former girlfriend multiple times in the face and back in the 1100 block of Memorial Avenue on Oct. 7, it was alleged in an affidavit. Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey, Watson was initially jailed, but has since been released on $25,000 bail.
Mother accused of DUI while juvenile was riding in car
Motorist Teresa Ann Schultz, 49, of 24 W. Central Ave., Avis; face charges for driving impaired while her juvenile daughter was in the vehicle, it was alleged in an affidavit filed by a Lycoming County Sheriff Deputy who found her slumped over the steering wheel unconscious with the engine running about 9:45 a.m. on July 8. It was alleged in the court document that Schultz, whose driver’s license was suspended, pulled into a parking lot in the 300 block of Hepburn while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Moments after the sheriff deputy found her, Shultz regained consciousness and was not experiencing a medical issue. Schultz, who refused to submit a blood sample, admitted that she had taken methadone hours earlier, the deputy wrote in the court document. Charged with endangering the welfare of child, reckless endangering another person, DUI and two summary offenses, Schultz has waived her preliminary before Frey and is free on $10,000 bail.
Child sexual abuse charges land Muncy Creek Township man in county prison
Jacob Dean Roberts, 41, of 49 Heatherbrooke Estates, Muncy, has been charged with four felony counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one felony count of illegal use of a communication device after authorities, discovered child sexual abuse material on two cellphones while executing a federal search warrant at his Muncy Creek Township home on Oct. 22, according to court records filed by the Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office. Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey, Roberts was initially jailed, but is free now on $150,000 bail. He has waived his preliminary hearing on these charges.
City man charged with abusing 911 system
Even after he was told on Oct. 26 by city police to stop calling 911 unless he had an actual emergency, Luke Holleran called 911 at least three more times for non-emergencies shortly after officers left his home at 2322 W. Fourth St., it was alleged in an affidavit. Police initially responded to the residence because Hollerman was “yelling obnoxiously and making demands” of the dispatchers, police alleged. “Holleran has called the emergency line “several times in October for non-emergency issues,” police said in the court document. Arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on one misdemeanor count of abusing the 911 system, Holleran, 31, has since been held for court on the charge following his preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $5,000 bail.
Loyalsock Township woman charged after gun is fired
Awakened by someone knocking on her back door at her Loyalsock Township home about 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 2, Sherri Andy grabbed her gun and approached the door to see who was there, according to an affidavit. When the 34-year-old woman realized it was a uniformed state trooper, “she did not think it was a good idea to be holding the firearm, so she went to place it on a table,” the court document stated. However, when she threw the gun, it landed on the ground and went off, police said. A trooper at the back door said that Andy threw the gun on the ground after opening up the rear screen door, police said. The trooper, who was not injured, had been sent to the woman’s home to check on her welfare, police said. Charged with a single misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, Andy, of 1655 Randall Circle, has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and released on $5,000 bail.
Children help their mother as she is allegedly assaulted by former boyfriend
When Anthony Cunningham kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom door and began punching in the head as well as putting his hands around her throat in the 600 block of Second Street about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, the couple’s two children “came rushing into the room and eventually were able to separate Cunningham from their mother, city police wrote in an affidavit. The 32-year-old Philadelphia man had already fled the apartment when officers arrived on the scene. They noticed “slight swelling” to the victim’s face, and that the woman’s bedroom door had been “significantly damaged,” the affidavit stated. Cunningham, who has a history of past arrests for kidnapping and armed robbery, was recently arraigned before Frey on charges of simple assault and felony trespassing and jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail. He has since waived his preliminary hearing on this matter.
