Montoursville man charged with strangulation
A Montoursville man has been charged with strangulation after he allegedly attacked his mother at their shared residence, 314 Chestnut St., Montoursville on Feb. 25, 2026.
The incident began when the alleged victim asked Hunter Joseph Hesse, 19, to do his chores and take his medication. Refusing to do so, his mother took away his Xbox remote, according to a state police affidavit.
As she turned to walk away, Hesse allegedly placed her in a headlock, impeding her breathing for approximately 20 seconds, making her feel as if she was going to pass out, she allegedly told police.
After releasing her, Hesse allegedly struck her in the face.
A laceration on the bridge of the alleged victim’s face was observed by police, according to court documents.
District Judge Kirsten Gardner arraigned Hesse on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and jailed at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
