Ten motorists have been charged with DUI, according to court records recently made public. Those charged were: Kurtis Edward Pittinger, 61, of 798 W. Edwin St., apartment 101; state police on Isabella Court in the city on July 20; also charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary offenses; this is his second DUI-drug arrest in recent months - he was charged May 21 by state police following an incident on Main Street in Hughesville; he remains incarcerated on other drug charges. Salary Board busy at Commissioners meeting

Actions taken by the Salary Board at this week’s Lycoming County Commissioners’s meeting are part of the commissioners’ efforts to get things more in line, according to Commissioner Marc Sortman. “Not that there was anything wrong in the past, but I think we had a habit of making pay grades for the person, and not the position and we’re just cleaning all that up,” Sortman said. “As new hires come in place, they’re hired at a rate the position demands and not what an individual person may need or want to take the job in the county,” he said. ELSD announces new Core Values Committee

The East Lycoming School District superintendent recently briefed the school board and public on the newly formed Core Values Committee. “I am hopeful we can soon bring to the board a recommendation for a set of Core Values that represent our district and community,” said Dr. Gregory S. Scoggins, superintendent. He noted the first Core Values Committee meeting was held 4:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in the high school library and there is an upcoming meeting Sept. 24.
