Montoursville came in second place overall and was first place among small schools at the first Academic Decathlon competition of the year, held Nov. 13 at Penns Valley.

The medal winners in each division were:

Honors Division

• Catherine Hittle – Gold in Essay, Bronze in Literature

Scholastic Division

• Morgan Hood -Bronze in Social Science, and the Bronze Medal for Overall Score

• Zion Brown – Gold in Art

• Angelina Rockey – Bronze in Literature

Varsity Division

• Reese Peterson – Gold in Essay, Silver in Literature, Bronze in Social Science, and the Gold Medal for Overall Score

Also competing from Montoursville were senior Emily Gladu; juniors Sadie Hall, Alex Martyniuk, Ryleigh McConnaughhay, Elias Rodriguez, Rylee Tillema and Ruby Watts; sophomores Allison Chapman, Abel Conahan, Nadia Farenish, Storie Holtzman, Charlie Jackson and Alexis-Zimmerman West; and freshmen Reagan Greene and Izabella Weaver.
