BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Markus Rybak, of South Williamsport, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Rybak was initiated at Pennsylvania State University. Rybak is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. ANNVILLE — Owen Berry, of Cogan Station, was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators. He batted .300 this season in 31 games with 27 hits including seven doubles and two home runs. Berry knocked in 19 runs and scored 19 times. On the mound, he was 0-2 with a 7.59 earned run average in 10.2 innings pitched over seven appearances. In the field, he made 58 assists and 31 putouts. Berry, a graduate of Williamsport Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration at Lebanon Valley College.

Each year, the Lycoming Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presents commencement awards to area high school seniors with the highest average. The Anne Perley American history award goes to a senior at Williamsport Area High School, honoring the chapter’s 4th Regent Anne Perley from Williamsport, who was also a state regent and a vice president general at the national level of the society.
