CU-Lock Haven students receive Presidential Volunteer Service Award

LOCK HAVEN — Three Commonwealth University-Lock Haven students have received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for the 2022-2023 school year. The PVSA recognizes students who complete 100 or more volunteer service hours over a 12-month period. Lock Haven students who received the award were Pollyana Canete, health sciences/physician assistant major from Lebanon, Pennsylvania; Alexis Mayes, heath sciences major from Coalport; and Emma Stellfox, psychology major from Enola. Commonwealth University is seeking employers to participate in several boutique-style career expos it will offer to its students during the spring 2024 semester at its Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield locations. CU-Lock Haven Health Science Club awarded American Lung Association grant to help students quit using tobacco

LOCK HAVEN — The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven Health Science Club was awarded a $2,000 grant to implement a Freedom From Smoking (FFS) in-person tobacco cessation program on campus. The American Lung Association is working with colleges and universities in northcentral Pennsylvania to support students and staff with quitting all tobacco use, including vaping. The evidence-based seven-week program will begin in January 2024 and each session is designed to help tobacco users quit smoking by gaining control over their behavior.
