Want to learn about the Susquehanna Trout Unlimited chapter activities and conservation project updates, perhaps try out fly casting as a first-timer or sharpen your skills under the instruction of experienced fly fishers? Would you like to learn more about fishing from a kayak? The public is invited to a picnic and outdoor meeting of the Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited to be held at Trout Run Park on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Reflections in Nature: Apples are good food supply for wildlife

This year we are going to have a bumper crop of apples. While driving down the back roads, I noticed that every wild apple tree is loaded with green apples. Although I had noticed one tree that was already dropping its apples, some trees will hang onto their fruit until well into the winter. Frozen apples will become a valuable source of food for wildlife, especially deer. Even after the apples fall to the ground, rot and ferment, wildlife will still feed on the fermented remains. The paved road is quite walkable, gently ascending the northeast slope of Bald Eagle Mountain. LEWISBURG — The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership is pleased to announce the opening of the 2024 Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant Program. The Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant program aims to support the advancement of regional outdoor recreation, conservation, trail projects and programs within the Susquehanna Greenway. Loyalsock Creek Men’s Club does work on Little Bear Creek

The Loyalsock Creek Men’s Club recently completed its annual work day on Little Bear Creek and did some creek bank and road stabilization instead of the planned project of cleaning out under the bridge. The Loyalsock Creek Men’s Club, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Fish and Boat Commission, completed the project on Little Bear Creek on August 16-17.
