15 people are sentenced in Tioga County Court
WELLSBORO – Fifteen people were sentenced in Tioga County Court this week.
According to court documents, sentenced to state prison time was:
Roy P. Wood, 34, of Wellsboro, 12-24 months in jail, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, $113 lab fee, concurrent with other sentence.
Sentenced to county jail time were:
Tyler S. Rumsey, 23, of Blossburg, 70 days to 12 months in jail, access-device fraud, 67 days credit for time served, $100 fine, $263 restitution.
Joseph T. Tanaiewski, 20, of Wellsboro, five years intermediate punishment with one to three months in jail, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, probation, $100 fine.
Loren E. Walbridge, 47, of Wellsboro, five days to six months in jail, driving under the influence of intoxicants, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension, six months probation, $300 fine, consecutive to other sentence.
Zena S. Mendoza, 38, of Meridan, Connecticut, one day to 23 months and 29 days in jail, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, credit for one day time served, $100 fine.
John M. Keagle, 35, of Mainesburg, five years intermediate punishment with six months in jail, last 90 days on electronic home monitoring, probation, 18 months drivers license suspension.
Samantha L. Sawyer, 26, of Wellsboro, five days to six months in jail for DUI, then electronic home monitoring, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension.
Eric C. Rupert, 29, of Wellsboro, five days to six months in jail or electronic home monitoring for DUI, $500 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension.
Michael S. Harding, 43, of Wellsboro, six months intermediate punishment, DUI, one to 30 days in jail, probation, 12 months driver’s license suspension. For a second count of DUI, six months intermediate punishment, five days electronic home monitoring, probation, $300 fine and 12 months driver’s license suspension, consecutive.
Sentenced to probation were:
McKenna E.A. Cook, 20, of Elkland, for theft, restitution $80. She also pled guilty to two more counts of theft and will be sentenced for those counts Oct. 10.
Jesse A. Taylor, 25, of Blossburg, accelerated rehabilitative disposition sentence for DUI revoked, and resentenced to six months probation, $300 fine.
Michelle L. Johnson, 35, of Westfield, six months probation for disorderly conduct, $1,500 restitution.
Trisha Brimmer, 34, of Tioga, 90 days probation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sentenced to accelerated rehabilitative disposition were:
Seth O. Reese, 26, of Tioga, 12 months probation, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Kiya A. Brockman, 24, of Tioga, nine months probation, theft and receiving stolen property.
Woman charged after alleged threats
MANSFIELD – Billie Jo Gower, 40, of 628 Steam Mill Road, Wellsboro, faces several charges after she allegedly threatened to “kill and dismember” four juvenile boys camping at a state campground last month.
According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson’s office, the four juveniles, two age 14, one age 7 and one age 8, told police that while playing in the campground they were threatened by Gower that she would kill and dismember them, while brandishing a machete and handgun.
Gower was charged by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources after the incident July 4 at the County Bridge State Campground in the Tioga County Forest, Ward Township, with making terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and violating rules regarding conduct on commonwealth property.
She also annoyed other campers in close proximity to her campsite with unreasonable noise, banging pots and using obscene language, according to the charges.
Gower was issued a summons to appear at an Sept. 21 preliminary hearing.
Materials for meth bring charges
MANSFIELD – Ashley L. Hand, 28, of 96 Cherokee Lane, Tioga, faces charges of possession with intent to manufacture and deliver a controlled substance and jailed after police said she and another person previously charged and jailed purchased items to make meth, according to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson’s office.
According to state police, Hand and Sean M. Holleran, 31, also of 98 Cherokee Lane, Tioga, went into two stores July 31 and purchased several items and ingredients needed for making meth.
Hand was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail Aug. 18, and her preliminary hearing set for Aug 31.
Bandana-wearing man robs market
MANSFIELD – A man with a white bandana over his face robbed a clerk of an undisclosed amount of cash at the Acorn Market on Route 287 in Tioga County’s Delmar Township about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night, according to state police.
The bandit, who was described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and wearing baggy blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt, walked into the business and ordered the clerk to “empty the drawer into a bag” before fleeing the store in an unknown direction.
No one was injured. Police did not say if there were any customers in the store at the time.

WELLSBORO – Ten people were sentenced in Tioga County Court recently.
According to court documents, sentenced to state prison was:
Merle S. Cole, 30, of Wellsboro, 30 months to 60 months for driving under the influence of intoxicants, $1,500 fine, 18 months driver’s license suspension, credit for 342 days time served.
Sentenced to county jail time were:
Jane E. Shourds, 58, of Mansfield, five years intermediate punishment for DUI, 475 days in jail, credit for time already served, moved to probation, 30 hours community service, 18 months driver’s license suspension, $2,500 fine.
Preston P. Prough, 50, of Wellsboro, six months for DUI, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension; and for count two of DUI, six months probation, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension and 30 hours of community service, consecutive.
Derrick N. Stiner, 23, of Liberty, 364 to two years minus one day in jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, credit for 390 days time served, two years probation, 30 hours community service.
Christopher S. Cummings, 33, of Millerton, five years intermediate punishment for DUI, completed with 109 days time served, probation, $1,500 fine, 30 hours community service, 18 months driver’s license suspension.
Jesse Hudson, 24, of Wellsboro, 144 days to 23 1/2 months in jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, credit for time served, $180 restitution to Wellsboro police department, 30 hours community service.
Sentenced to electronic home monitoring were:
Michael D. Lawless, 21, of Nelson, six months to 23 1/2 months then 12 months probation for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Philip M. Weaver, 35, of Wellsboro, six months intermediate punishment for DUI with one to five days on EHM, then probation, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension.
Sentenced to probation was:
Ashley C. Ehrler, 23, of Osceola, 18 months for forgery and theft by deception, $2,419 restitution.
Sentenced to Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition was:
Donald E. Parker, 56, of Wellsboro, 12 months probation for simple assault, defiant trespass and harassment.
2 face charges in district court
MANSFIELD – Two people either have or will face charges before District Judge James Carlson.
Brian L.T. Hawk, 37, of 146 S. Main St., Mansfield, faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and various traffic citations following a traffic stop by Blossburg police in the borough June 4. He was issued a summons to appear.
Sandra C. Prinssen, 72, of 371 Robbins Road, Mainesburg, faces charges of retail theft and criminal trespass after she allegedly took $45 worth of items from the Mansfield Wal-Mart, Richmond Township, on July 7. Prinssen previously had been caught stealing there in 2011 and was not permitted to be there. She was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 28 preliminary hearing.

WELLSBORO – Eleven people were sentenced in Tioga County Court Monday.
According to court documents, sentenced to state prison was:
Jessica Bennett, 23, of Harrison Valley, two years in the State Intermediate Program including intensive drug treatment for forgery, $260 restitution. For a second count of forgery, two years in the SIP program, $585 restitution, concurrent. For theft, 24 months probation, $46 restitution, consecutive.
Sentenced to county jail time were:
Peter A. Russell, 46, of Lawrenceville, five days to six months in jail for driving under the influence of intoxicants, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension
Donald F. Hinman, 59, of Wellsboro, five days to six mont hs in jail for DUI, $300 fine.
Daryl D. Abplanalp, 90 days to 12 months in jail for theft by deception, credit for 93 days time served, $100 fine.
Michael T. Wheeler, 25, of Wellsboro, three days to 18 months in jail for DUI, credit for three days time served, immediate parole, $100 fine.
Sentenced to electronic home monitoring were:
William R. Nolan, 42, of Elkland, three to six month electronic home monitoring for DUI, $500 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension.
Tarren McConville, 30, of Warren, five days to six months electronic home monitoring for DUI, $300 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension

Tabitha L. Saxton, 29, of Granville Summit, nine months probation for DUI.
Melanie L. Benz, 9 months probation for DUI.
Michael S. Hockenberry, 38, of Wellsboro, nine months prob ation for DUI.
Carmen E. Route, 38, of Troy, nine months probation for DUI.
4 face charges in district court
MANSFIELD – Four people either have or will face various charges before District Judge James Carlson, Mansfield.
Brandon D. Button, 22, of 1792 Glenn Road, Knoxville, faces charges of unlawful restraint, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness at Mansfield Commons July 27 following a domestic incident. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail and his preliminary hearing held Wednesday.
Ben D. Housel, 24, of 51 Moonwalk Lane, Wellsboro, faces charges of simple assault and making terroristic threats following a domestic incident at 107 Summit St., Morris Run, July 30. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail and his preliminary hearing set for Aug. 17.
Lowell C. Laake, 31, of Middletown, faces charges of theft by deception and retail theft following an incident at Wal-Mart, June 4. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail, and his preliminary hearing set for Aug. 10.
Adrian M. Perry, 44, of 9847 Route 287, Wellsboro, faces charges following a hit-and-run crash, driving on a suspended license and failure to give information or render aid after an accident in the parking area at 66 Morris Drive, Hickory Residence Hall, July 13. He was issued a summons to appear at an Aug. 17 preliminary hearing.
