Troopers will be on high alert for impaired drivers over holiday weekend
State troopers will be out in force throughout the county this upcoming Labor Day Weekend all in an effort to get impaired drivers off the road before someone is hurt or killed, according to Cpl. Michael App, a supervisor in the patrol division at the Montoursville barracks.
Troopers will be conducting not only DUI checkpoints, but will be doing roving patrols throughout the region, especially in areas that have a history of DUI-related crashes, he added.
Motorists are reminded of the state law that requires them to move over to an open lane and/or slow down whenever approaching a police cruiser or other emergency vehicles that are stopped along the roadway with their emergency lights activated, App said.
Do not get behind the wheel if you have been drinking alcoholic beverages or are under the influence of a controlled substance, police warned.
