Woman on probation allegedly spit in officer’s face

Sun-Gazette Police & Fire News Reports

As she was being brought into the county prison by probation officers with the help of corrections staff on April 17, Tracey Lynn Deshong spat in the face of one of the officers, it was alleged in court documents filed by a county detective. The 53-year-old city woman put up resistance and refused to comply with orders to move as the officers tried to get her into the jail, it was stated in an affidavit. An officer had to deploy a taser gun in order to get her to comply, the detective said. Initially jailed on a probation violation, Deshong has now been arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on felony charges of assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated harassment by prison as well as three misdemeanors, including resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and institution vandalism. The last charge stems from her allegedly “spitting multiple times on the windows” of the vehicle that the officers used to transport her to the prison, the affidavit stated. Deshong has since been recommitted in lieu of $25,000 bail.
