Naked man arrested for allegedly stealing truck, firing rifle into Lairdsville area home

After allegedly stealing a pickup truck near Elimsport and driving it to the Lairdsville area, where he fired a rifle into an occupied home, Lucas Drick was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon as he emerged naked from some woods, state police said in court papers.

With a rifle in his hand, Drick, 21, 94 Woodland Road, Allenwood, complied immediately when a state trooper ordered him to the ground, police said, adding that the trooper seized the weapon without incident.

He faces multiple charges, including recklessly endangering, felony theft and indecent exposure, state Trooper Logan Webb, the lead investigator said.

It all stated about 2:40 p.m. when Webb was called to 2934 Old Lairdsville Road in Moreland Township, where the homeowner reported that a bullet had been fired in their house, according to an affidavit. Two people were inside painting at the time, Webb said in the court document.

It was believed that the shot came from a southerly direction, Webb said, adding that there was a pickup truck, parked off in the distance on a hill. The trooper got back in his cruiser and headed towards the truck to see if it was at all connected with the shooting.

However, before he reached the vehicle, a man wearing no clothes — identified as Drick — suddenly walked out of the woods armed with rifle.

Once Drick was safely in custody, the trooper took him to the truck. Drink initially said he knew nothing about the vehicle, but eventually claimed that he had borrowed it. Drick’s dog, wallet and cellphone were all in the truck, Webb said.

“Drick said he was out shooting groundhogs,” Webb said. It turned out that the truck had been reported stolen about three hours earlier from a farm at 4818 Elimsport Road in Washington Township. The rifle also did not belong to Drick, the trooper said.

In addition to above offenses, Drick also faces a felony charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief and defiant trespassing for being on private property that is posted “no trespassing,” Webb said.

Following his arraignment Wednesday night before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley, Drick was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
