Two charged with assault in separate domestic disturbances

Cody Klinger, 29, of 1213 Memorial Ave., has been jailed on charges of terroristic threats, strangulation, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment after assaulting his wife during a disturbance in the couple’s apartment on June 9, city police alleged in an affidavit. “Klinger lashed out and started breaking things in the apartment,” it was alleged. “He grabbed his wife by the throat on three different occasions to the point that she was unable to breathe,” court records stated. Klinger also “kicked her in the shins,” police alleged. Following his preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle, he was held for court on all the charges and remains behind bars in lieu of $75,000 bail.

In another domestic disturbance, while holding his 3-month-old daughter in her car seat as he walked along the 1100 block of Market Street about 8 p.m. on July 17, Kadeem Middleton suddenly “threw the seat into the middle of the street” as he and the infant’s mother were arguing with one another, city police alleged in an affidavit. Although the seat landed upside down, the toddler did not appear injured, police said. However, Middleton turned his wrath on the mother, “grabbing her by the hair and throwing her to the ground, causing bloodied lacerations and swelling to her right knee,” the affidavit stated. Middleton, 30, of 324 Park Ave., apartment 7, “pulled away from officers several times” as they attempted to handcuff him, police said.

Middleton was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of felony endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering, resisting arrest, simple assault and harassment. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $100,000 bail.
