Assault charges levied in hospital incident

UPMC Police found Brittany Palmer, 34, of 900 W. Third St., “screaming and calling staff obscenities” when they arrived at UPMC Williamsport just before 4 p.m. on Feb. 14, according to an affidavit.

Medication and hand restraints were ordered for Palmer, who was out of control, stating that she had Hepatitis C, which she threatened to infect staff with, police allege. Palmer further threatened to hit and kick staff in the face, ultimately digging her fingernails into a nurse’s wrist, and attempted to spit in her face. The nurse was able to turn her face, with the spit landing on her neck area, court documents said.

The disturbance lasted over 45 minutes.

Palmer was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct before District Judge Aaron Biichle, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $25,000 bail.
