City woman faces two sets of felony charges
On the afternoon of Dec. 18, accused drug dealer Daisy Edmonds was ordered by District Judge Gary Whiteman to the Lycoming County Prison after the 25-year-old woman was unable to post $45,000 bail. However, when Edmonds, of 1212 Monroe Place, arrived at the jail with a female county detective, she ran into the parking lot of Wegmans and then entered the supermarket just south of the prison, according to an affidavit.
Eight minutes went by until the detective spotted Edmonds in the store with her jacket hood up over her face. The two women struggled as Edmonds, who had managed to slip her left hand out of a pair of handcuffs, was taken to the floor, investigators said. With the help of a city police officer who had arrived on the scene, Edmonds was restrained, placed in handcuffs a second time and sent to the prison on the drug charges that were filed by the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit.
Edmonds was charged with three felony counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a communication device for allegedly selling various amounts of cocaine to an undercover officer in the city on Sept, 3, Sept. 5 and again Sept. 12, court records stated.
Two days after her arraignment on the drug offenses, Edmonds appeared before District Judge William Solomon to face felony charges of escape and flight to avoid apprehension as well as resisting arrest and evading arrest, both misdemeanors. These offenses stem from her few minutes of freedom outside the jail. She was recommitted in lieu of an additional $25,000 bail.
