3 arrested, accused of Lewis Township burglary

State police have charged Anthony John Harkinson, 36, of Philipsburg, Eric James Watkins, 43, of Fleming and Alexis Dawn Marie Moses, 31, of Howard, with breaking into Bittner’s General Store, 68 Route 14 in Lewis Township after surveillance video allegedly captured Harkinson and another individual forcing their way in through the rear door of the store just before 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, 2023.

Upon prying the back door open, Harkinson and Watkins quickly made their way to the front of the store, where they removed two cash registers and a coin safe from the building, according to surveillance video viewed by authorities, an affidavit said.

Cellular analysis of both Watkins and Moses’ phone revealed she was in the immediate area of the store around the date and time of the break in, police said in an affidavit.

Moses, Harkinson and Watkins were taken into custody by state police for a series of burglaries in Clearfield, Clinton and Mifflin counties, the method of which was similar in nature to the Bittner break in. It was later determined that Harkinson was the alleged owner of the getaway vehicle in those incidents, police noted in the affidavit.

Arraigned on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass and criminal mischief by District Judge William Solomon, Watkins, Moses and Harkinson’s respective bail was set at $50,000.

Starting at $2.99/week.
