Assault, forgery, shoplifting among charges alleged in district courts

Arrest made following domestic disturbance

When city police arrived at Brandon Cochran’s apartment at 21 W. Fourth St. to investigate a disturbance about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, his distraught girlfriend was standing outside and told the officers repeatedly “He tried to kill me,” it was alleged in an affidavit. The woman had “multiple scratches on her neck and her face as well as a black eye,” the court document stated.

Cochran, 34, was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He was initially jailed, but was on $20,000

bail. The charges were withdrawn on March 6.

Social media post leads police to alleged thief

When Steven Ray Barner Jr. suddenly left 937 Nices Hollow Road in Porter Township sometime this past autumn, he took with him a pellet stove that belonged to the landlords, Dennis and Crystal Koons, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. The couple reported the theft in early November after they discovered a photo on social media of Barner selling the stove, police said. Upon being questioned, Barner, 34, of Lock Haven, admitted to selling the stove to a friend for $250, police said. Charged with theft and receiving stolen property, Barner was held for court last week on both charges following a hearing last week before Dieter and is free on $10,000 bail.

Four charged in separate drug cases

Marc G. Goodmond, 39, 770 W. Fourth St., was arrested Saturday morning by the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) on charges of allegedly selling $500 worth of cocaine to an informant in the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard in the city on Dec. 3, according to court records. Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey on felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone, Goodmond was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

In another case involving the narcotics unit, Frey also arraigned last week Yvonne Fromille, 48, of 1400 Oakes Ave., with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy for her alleged involvement in the sale of one ounce of cocaine to an informant at West Fourth and Poplar streets in the city on Jan. 6, court documents stated. Fromille was released on $50,000 bail.

In another NEU case, Harold Heddings, 60, of 129 Village Road, Muncy, waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on two felony counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for his involvement in the sales of bags of methamphetamine to informants on Sept. 3 and again Oct. 8, it was alleged in court documents. The first sale took place on Lycoming Mall Drive in Muncy Township while the second one occurred at Heddings’ home, it was stated in an affidavit, investigators said. Heddings is free on $50,000 bail.

In another NEU case, Brian Lerue Heeman, 56, of Danville, has been charged by NEU with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling 3.5 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover officer for $120 on South Main Street in Montgomery on Nov. 6, it was alleged in a court document. He was held for court last week on the felony charges following his preliminary hearing before Gardner. He remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Cogan Station woman faces forgery-related charges

Mary Rose Hunsinger, 24, of 3735 Lycoming Creek Road, Cogan Station, with felony forgery, theft and theft by deception after she allegedly altered a $2,000 check that was made out to another woman and cashed it at the Woodlands Bank downtown branch office on Dec. 12, according to city police. Hunsinger wrote her name over the payee’s name on the check, police alleged. The person who wrote the check, identified in an affidavit only by his last name, does not know Hunsinger and had no idea how she obtained the check, police said. Following her arraignment Monday before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Hunsinger was released on $25,000 bail.

City woman allegedly stole merchandise from Hughesville area business

Between Jan. 20 and Jan. 31, Lori Harman, 54, of 413 Louisa St., walked into the Herbal Haven Smoke Shop at 1625 Route 405 in Wolf Township and stole an estimated $2,500 worth of merchandise by concealing items under her clothing, state police alleged in an affidavit. All the thefts were captured on the store’s surveillance system, police said. This was Harman’s third shoplifting arrest. Following her arraignment Monday before Biichle on a felony charge of shoplifting, She was released on $15,000 bail.

Maryland man jailed on charge of allegedly shoplifting at Walmart

Hours after allegedly stealing an estimated $658 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Montoursville on Feb. 11, Marquis Richardson, 29, of Baltimore, Maryland, was taken into custody in Loyalsock Township and brought before Dieter to be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge, according to borough police.

The theft was caught on the store’s surveillance cameras, police said. A photo from the video was posted on the police department’s social media page, and the arrest took place soon after someone came forward and identified Richardson as the man allegedly in the picture, police said. Investigators received information that Richardson was staying at a motel in the township. He remains jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail

South Williamsport teen allegedly shatters ex-girlfriend’s cellphone

Tyrick Moy II, 19, of 1734 Riverside Drive, South Williamsport, has been charged with criminal mischief and harassment for shattering her ex-girlfriend’s cellphone by throwing it on the ground in the 2800 block of Four Mile Drive in Loyalsock Township on Nov. 30, state police alleged in an affidavit. Moy has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and is free on $7,500 bail.
