Brooklyn man arrested for 2 days of retail theft
Upon arriving at Wegmans, 201 Williams St., on Dec. 8, 2024, city police viewed surveillance footage which allegedly showed Mikko Dahmel Johnson, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Placing several packages of Nicorette in his shopping cart.
Johnson and another individual can then be seen walking about the store before finally leaving through its east exit without having paid for the items and entering a vehicle parked at an adjacent department store, according to video provided to police by a store loss prevention official, an affidavit said.
Through careful review of the footage, the items stolen by Johnson was estimated to total $468.35, authorities said in an affidavit.
That same day, Johnson and the same alleged accomplice were spotted at CVS on Lycoming Creek Road allegedly removing over the counter medications from store shelves and placing them into bags they were carrying and leaving the store without paying for the items. The total amount for the medications taken equaled $1.227.53, according to an affidavit.
Two days later, Lycoming Regional Police responded to the nearby Weis Markets store on Lycoming Creek Road, where it is alleged Johnson and his accomplice removed an estimated $1,458.57 worth of over-the-counter medications before again leaving without paying for the items, court documents allege.
Johnson was arraigned on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft by District Judge Aaron Biichle and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000.
