Lycoming County district judges kept busy with assault, drug, other charges
Woman arrested on child endangerment charges
So that her boyfriend could engage in sexual acts with a minor, Ashley Rae Kane, 26, of 140 Bittner Park Road, lot 27, Trout Run, drugged the child “multiple times” by giving her Xanax during a period that lasted more than two years, city police alleged in an affidavit.
Kane is accused of giving the girl the drug, making her feel tired, before the girl, Kane and Kane’s then boyfriend, Steve Guthrie, all got in bed together at Guthrie’s home in the 1500 block of Mount Carmel Street, it is alleged. The girl reported that “sometimes” she would wake up to find Guthrie allegedly having inappropriate contact with her, police said.
Kane gave the drug to the girl on various occasions between April 2020 and Sept. 2022, police alleged in the court document. At no time did the minor have a prescription for Xanax, police said. “Kane’s actions aided Guthrie in sexually assaulting the victim in their bed,” an officer alleged in the affidavit.
Kane was arraigned early Wednesday morning before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of felony endangering the welfare of a child and corrupting the morals of a minor. She was released on $75,000 bail. Guthrie, 39, convicted in 2023 of corrupting the morals of a minor and endangering the welfare of a child as well a prohibited weapon charge, is serving a 2 to 5 year prison sentence at the State Correctional Institution at Mercer.
Montgomery area woman charged with assault
During a domestic disturbance in a home on Cpr Lane in Woodward Township on Feb. 10, Brittney Buck, 31, of 280 Fredna Lane, Montgomery, head-butted a male twice and whipped him with a belt, striking him in the back, state police alleged in an affidavit. Charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, Buck has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Denise Dieter and is free on $15,000 bail. The mischief charge stems from Buck allegedly damaging the male’s cellphone.
Second person charged in case involving drugs and stolen license place
Johanna Goessel, 40, of Coudersport, appeared Wednesday before Dieter to face Lycoming Regional police charges of receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia that stem from an incident when an officer stopped the Ford Focus in which she was a passenger on Route 220 in Piatt Township because the license plate on the car was stolen out of Philadelphia, according to an affidavit.
A female officer recovered two bags of methamphetamine from Goessel’s groin area, police said. Police seized the car and got a warrant to search it. Officers recovered a purse with marijuana in it on the back seat, it was stated in the court document. Goessel waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $15,000 bail. The driver of the car, John Coyle, 46, also of Coundersport, has already been charged with the same offenses, but a warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing.
Motorist faces charges after allegedly driving truck through cornfield
Driving a 2004 Dodge pickup truck, Joseph William Fioretti, 40, of 1635 Route 442, lot A14, Muncy, drove through a cornfield and attempted to steal a 300-gallon water tanker on Antlers Lane in Woodward Township about 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 14, state police alleged in a criminal complaint. When another person caught him on the private property, Fioretti “drove off at a high rate of speed” even though he was told to wait until police arrived, the document stated. It was estimated that Fioretti’s truck caused an estimated $1,500 damage to the field, police said, Charged with agricultural vandalism, theft, agricultural trespassing plus four summary offenses, including driving with a suspended license, Fioretti has waived his preliminary hearing before Dieter and is free on $10,000 bail.
Jersey Shore woman allegedly bought alcohol for juveniles
Amanda Michele Audet, 42, of 302 Allegheny St., apartment 23, Jersey Shore faces charges for buying a six-pack of an alcoholic beverage for three minors – a 15-year-old male and two girls ages 14 and 13 – at the Weis Market on Allegheny Street in the borough on Feb. 16, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. Charged with three misdemeanor counts each of furnishing alcohol to minors and corrupting the morals of a minors, Audet has been sent a summons to appear before Dieter.
