Two charged in separate domestic-disturbance cases

During an argument with a woman inside his home on the night of Feb. 24, Robert James Harer grabbed her and dragged her to a nearby bedroom as he continued to kick her multiple times, city police alleged in a court document. “I’m going to kill you tonight. I’m going to kill you (expletive)” Harer, 42, of 1118 Dewey Ave., is alleged to have told the woman, who “feared for her life” as Harer allegedly kicked her multiple times in the face. When officers arrived on the scene, Harer had already fled the scene, but the woman met them at the front door, police said. She had a bloody nose, her face was swollen and there was blood on her leg, police added. She was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport, where she was treated for her injuries. Taken into custody the next day and jailed on a probation violation, Harer has since been charged with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment. Still jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail, Harer was held for court on all charges following his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey.

In another city police domestic disturbance case before Frey, Ryan Joseph Hamilton, 35, of 927 Arch St., has waived his preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct that were filed after he allegedly struck his girlfriend in the stomach in their apartment on Feb. 15. Hamilton is free on 25,000 bail.
