Alleged threats made during domestic disturbance lands man in jail

On the night of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, Bret Thomas Young, 29, and his fiance went to a Muncy Creek Township establishment “to have fun,” but after leaving the place, the two got into an argument in their vehicle that resulted in a call to the state police, according to an affidavit.

Young’s remarks alarmed his fiance and scared her, prompting her to call law enforcement, police said. At one point, Young, of 380 Village Road, apartment 2, Muncy, ripped a cellphone out of the woman’s hand, it was alleged in the court document.

Police responded to the area of Route 405 in the township and interviewed the two. It was also alleged that Young told the woman that “if she tried to stop him from harming himself, he would murder her and she would die tonight,” police said. The court document stated Young had “consumed multiple shots of alcohol as well as multiple beers.”

Young was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. He was initially jailed in the Lycoming County Prison, but has since been released on $7,500 bail. He waived his preliminary hearing last week.

Starting at $2.99/week.
