Game law violation results in drug charges against Montoursville man

Responding on a tip that Caleb Price, 21, of 354 Jordan Ave., Montoursville, had shot and killed one or more white-tailed deer on the night of Dec. 27 and then took them to his home, Pennsylvania State Game Warden Benjamin Fromm II responded to Price’s home the next day and saw “a trail of blood and deer hair coming from the public sidewalk and leading” to Price’s garage, it was stated in an affidavit. There also were “butchered deer parts sitting on a table inside the garage,” the court document stated. From his investigation, Fromm discovered cocaine, marijuana, a tin of psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia on the property, according to a criminal complaint.

The warden said Price did not have a hunting license when he is alleged to have shot and killed two white-tailed deer at unknown locations and took them home. Price has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of unlawful killing of big game, unlawful taking of wildlife and hunting without a license. He has waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and is free on $5,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
