Loyalsock supervisors OK bed and breakfast

Loyalsock Township Supervisors voted 3-1 to allow Alechia Hause permission to convert her home at 1905 Konkle Road into a bed and breakfast, provided that she host no more than four overnight guests at any time and seek a special event permit to accommodate additional people.

Voting in favor were John Bower Jr., Richard Wheeland and Virginia Eaton. Marc Sortman voted no.

Many of Hause’s neighbors turned out for a conditional use hearing for the property prior to the supervisor meeting. They voiced concerns of increased traffic and a potential danger in bringing overnight guests in their quiet neighborhood.

Hause assured the board that she would never have more than one couple stay with her at a time and that her guests would be people she knew personally through business. A friend of Hause and former White House chef Sam Morgante shared that he and Hause hoped to bring former presidents or other distinguished guests to the property and would ensure that only the highest quality guests would be allowed on the property.

Supervisors also discussed the Williamsport Conference Center LLC’s use of land on Liberty Lane to build a restaurant and strip mall. The board approved the use, provided that the company identify who is responsible for stormwater management on site and grant the township permission to inspect the site.

The next supervisors meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12.

Starting at $2.99/week.
