The former Jackie’s Kitchen at the corner of West Third and Maynard Streets in Williamsport shows the damages caused by a fatal accident between a car and an River Valley Transit bus early Tuesday morning.

One person was killed when a vehicle collided with a bus early Tuesday morning in Williamsport.

The driver of a Mazda car, who was not identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at Maynard and West Third streets at about 6 a.m.

Police said the Mazda was southbound on Maynard when it collided with the River Valley Transit bus traveling east on Third Street.

Upon impact, the Mazda was pushed into a curb, striking a pedestrian lamp signal before coming to rest against a post at the entrance to the former Jackie’s Kitchen restaurant.

The bus driver, who was not identified, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

No passengers were reportedly on the bus.
