Officials begin to plan for trick-or-treating
Halloween has become a bit trickier this year with COVID-19 but there are some communities moving ahead despite the pandemic.
In Loyalsock Township, supervisors this week voted in favor of holding trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 31, said Bill Burdett, township manager.
In Montgomery, borough council approved a Halloween Parade at 6 p.m. Oct. 31. The parade is on Main Street, Montgomery Street, Broad Street and ends at the American Legion post. The parade forms at the Weis on Route 405. Trick-or-treating then takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. afterward, said Donna Miller, a borough spokeswoman.
“Any resident participating in trick-or-treat should put front their porch light on,” Miller said.
In South Williamsport borough, leadership is mulling it over.
The borough has a safety committee meeting that will recommend or not to the full body of council for a vote, a borough official said Wednesday. The schedule for the borough tentatively holds the event from 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 31.
It is also up in the air for children in Montoursville Borough, where the council and administration are planning to meet 7 p.m. Monday, to discuss, among other items, whether trick-or-treating will be allowed from 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 31.
