Prothonotary announces campaign for reelection

Thomas D. Heap, Lycoming County prothonotary and clerk of courts, has announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for a second term in May’s primary election according to a news release.

The prothonotary/clerk of courts serves as the chief custodian of civil and criminal records of the Court of Common Pleas with the overall responsibility of their safekeeping and preservation.

Since elected, Heap has implemented a number of office enhancements to better serve the residents of Lycoming County, he said in his announcement. Updates include replacement of the Civil Case Management System, electronic filing options for both civil and criminal filings and public access availability of civil case records and documents.

“I look forward to being granted another term so I can continue in my efforts to enhance and provide efficient and outstanding service to the public and the courts,” he said in the release.

Heap has a combined total of over 29 years of employment with Lycoming County serving in numerous positions and is currently a member of the Pennsylvania State Association of the Prothonotaries and Clerks of Courts.

A veteran of the U.S. Army with over 14 years of service, Heap is currently a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104, Montoursville. He lives in Montoursville with his wife, Susan Heap. They are the parents of three children and have three grandchildren.
