Man killed in single-car crash near Linden

A Linden area man was killed early Monday morning when he was ejected from his car that landed on top of him after it struck an embankment, sheared a utility pole, struck a tree and overturned in the middle of the 1700 block of Queneshaque Road in Woodward Township, according to the Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.

Killed in the 2:25 a.m. crash was Christopher Eisaman, 36, of Linden, who was traveling south on Queneshaque Road, and may have fallen asleep, investigators said. Employees with the state Department of Transportation closed a portion of the road for about four hours.

Township volunteer firefighters used hydraulic tools to lift the Chevrolet Malibu off of Eisaman. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries, Kiessling said. A passerby discovered the crash, township Fire Chief Richard Whalen said. No one witnessed the accident, and it was unknown how much time elapsed between when the accident occurred and when it was discovered.
