She’s a caretaker, working as a traveling nurse, as well as a mom of three daughters, a new grandmother, a lover of laughter and a storyteller.

She’s also LL Cool J’s biggest fan, and she’s competing to prove it on CBS’s latest musical game show, “SUPERFAN,” which premiers at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Kim Wesley, of Williamsport, had never heard rap or hip hop music before a new friend introduced her to LL Cool J when she was 11 years old.

“I was like, ‘What is that? I love that song,'” she said, reminiscing of the first time she heard the rapper’s song “Radio.”

From that moment, she was hooked.

“I just became obsessed,” she said. “Every time he put something new out, I was all over it.”

LL Cool J, born James Todd Smith, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor best known for hits including “All I Have” and “Mama Said Knock You Out.” He stars as Sam Hanna in the beloved TV series NCIS: Los Angeles, as well as in the movies Deep Blue Sea, Mindhunters and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.

After decades of admiring “Uncle L” from afar, Wesley was thrilled to see him in concert for the first time while vacationing in Orlando, Florida, last year.

Post-show, Wesley spent more time than usual on LL’s social media pages, trying to find herself among the crowd in video clips.

One day, he posted a clip to Instagram asking viewers, “Are you my biggest fan?” A link to an application for SUPERFAN was included.

“I was like, ‘Is this real? This can’t be real.’ I filled out the application and I heard from (CBS) the very next day,” she said.

From phone calls to Zoom interviews to audition tapes, the vetting process took about a month from the time she submitted that application, Wesley said.

The concept of the show is to name a superstar’s No. 1 fan, who then will receive a reward from their idol. There will be six episodes to start, with each episode focusing on a different celebrity and their respective fanbase.

While Wesley will compete as LL Cool J’s biggest fan in the season premier, others will compete for the same title on behalf of Shania Twain, Gloria Estefan, Pitbull, Little Big Town and Kelsea Ballerini.

The show is hosted by E! News’ Keltie Knight, creator and executive producer, and CBS Mornings’ Nate Burleson. Wesley sang the praises of both emcees, calling Knight “a delight” and Burleson “so kind.”

“(Knight) is one of the nicest and hardest working women you’ve probably never heard of in Hollywood,” she said.

Wesley encourages people to watch the show, saying she can’t wait to see the final product for herself, adding, “There are some awkward moments I’m hoping they caught.”

“There was a moment when I sniffed my shirt thinking it might smell like (LL Cool J),” she laughed. “I was like, ‘I really just did that in front of the cameras.'”

Though the show is meant to be competitive, Wesley said she found family among her fellow LL fans. All the contestants have stayed in touch since filming, offering life updates and challenging one another with pop quizzes on LL Cool J’s lyrics via a group chat.

Wesley and another contestant even have plans to reunite at an LL concert in Memphis soon.

“They were amazing people, and it was really nice to connect with other people who share the obsession,” she said.

“I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity … to have my sincere love and respect and admiration for this man come up on a television show,” Wesley said. “I’m really excited to watch.”
