PENNSDALE – No evacuation was necessary late Thursday afternoon when a small isolated electrical fire broke out in Sam’s Club on Lycoming Mall Drive, according to Muncy Township Fire Chief Scott Oldweiler.

The problem involved one of the store’s large walk-in freezers at the back of the building, he said, adding that township firefighters were dispatched to the business about 6:30 p.m.

“The seal around the freezer door was shorting out, and there was some arcing,” Oldweiler said.

There was a small amount of smoke, and the area involved was cordoned off to keep the public away, he said. Power to the freezer was immediately shut off, he added. The store contacted an electrician to make the necessary repairs, Oldweiler said.
