City of Williamsport’s leaf collecting underway

The City of Williamsport’s fall leaf collection will continue into December, weather permitting. Residents should place leaves along the curb line of the main streets, no alley pickup is possible due to equipment size used for the collection.
All neighborhoods will be picked-up on an ongoing basis during this time.
Please note that once a street has been cleared it will be at least one week until crews return to that area.
Residents should be reminded that the fall collection is for leaves only – no brush collection.
Residents must separate leaves from all other materials including tree limbs, brush and yard waste as stated in city ordinance.
Brush can jam and damage city equipment, especially when it is hidden beneath a pile of leaves, and it can significantly slow down operations.
If you have currently placed brush on a street you need to remove it immediately. Leaf pick-up is a labor intensive task and resident cooperation on not placing debris with the leaves is essential to facilitate pickup prior to the start of the winter snow season.
Leaf collection is for loose leaves only, no leaves that are placed in plastic bags or any other container will be picked up.
Residents may also take leaves, yard debris and tree trimmings to the city mulch pile at any time located at the Public Services Building, 1550 W. Third St.
The mulch pile is accessible to all city residents that obtain an access card for the brush recycling center.
Grass clippings are not accepted at this site at any time. The city also provides a spring yard waste pickup in conjunction with Earth Day each April.
For additional information or questions residents may have, please contact the Streets & Parks Department at 570-326-4684.
Please do not call for special pick-ups as this will not be done.
