Lawmaker makes ‘high-performing’ list

State Rep. Jamie Flick, R-South Williamsport, was recently named one of the most high-performing Pennsylvania representatives among lawmakers who recently began their service, according to a news release.

The Center for Effective Lawmaking, a joint project between Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia honored Flick as one of the newer lawmakers who is exceeding expectations.

“The recognition is based on a comprehensive, nonpartisan analysis of bills introduced and co-sponsored by legislators during the 2023-24 Legislative Session and the likelihood those bills become law,” the news release said.

The ranking places Flick as the second-highest performing legislator among his class of 50 lawmakers elected to serve in 2022, and first among Republicans.

“Since I was elected to serve, it’s been my priority to focus on learning more about my district, the issues of importance to residents and greatest needs of our communities,” Flick said, according to the news release. “I’ve forged good relationships by having conversations with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. I co-founded the Meet Me in the Middle Caucus to help facilitate relationships based on respect and dialogue, and made it a practice to work across party lines to pass legislation that works for everyone.”

To achieve these rankings, CEL analyzed the number of bills each member of the House of Representatives sponsored and the number of those bills that received any action in committee, or action beyond committee on the floor of the House.

“I’m proud to see that being solutions-focused and working collaboratively can yield real results for our communities,” Flick said, according to the news release. “From reforming child custody laws to raising awareness about opioid overdoses, my goal has always been to deliver legislation that positively impacts families, children and residents across our district.”
