Ministry, motorcycle club team up Saturday

MILL HALL — The Prayer Shawl Ministry needleworkers laid out many of the lap robes, lap afghans and prayer shawls that the bikers of the Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will distribute to hospitals, nursing homes and personal care homes on Saturday.
Known as the Annual Knit & Run, which began years ago when Pastor Susan Champion performed a funeral service for Perry Killinger’s grandmother, the friendship between Killinger and the pastor flourished.
Killinger, who currently serves as president of the motorcycle club, brought the idea to the other bikers years ago who quickly responded to the idea of a partnership between the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the SVBTM Club.
So, on Saturday morning, the bikers will come roaring into Mill Hall on their motorcycles and partake in a brunch hosted by the needleworkers and enjoy fellowship, renewing both old and new friendships.
The public is invited to come to the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Mill Hall on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to see all the beautiful creations made by the PSM needleworkers and enjoy a brunch with the bikers before they set off to their delivery destinations.
Folks are also invited to go along to visit their relatives or folks in nursing homes who will get to spend a few minutes with the bikers as they are presented with a laprobe or prayer shawl.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is also looking forward to meeting several of the CU-Lock Haven students who have formed a crochet/knitting club at the university that will be attending the brunch and fellowship time at the church for the first time.
Pastor Susan invites other “needleworkers,” those who crochet or knit, to become a part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry that meets monthly at the church in Mill Hall.
