Loyalsock Township School District superintendent gives update on her entry plan
Loyalsock Township School District Superintendent Dr. Brooke Beiter delivered an update on the progress of her entry plan since assuming the role late last year at the recent township school board meeting.
“I provided a family space survey to our district parents, and received 47 responses to that survey, with valuable feedback that’s already informing a variety of actions for the district,” Beiter said.
“The township talks that I hosted just prior to the break and over parent teacher conferences also had over 50 attendees that came to those six sessions. So overall, a total of nearly 100 engagements with our families in the first two months in this role,” she said.
Beiter also recognized the district’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), 50 members of which qualified for state-level competition after recently participating in a recent regional leadership conference held at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
“This is a big opportunity to highlight the support and growth of our program,” Beiter said.
In personnel matters, the board approved the hiring of Terrence Samuel, as full-time paraprofessional, at an hourly rate of $15.60, effective Dec. 18, 2025; Justin Cowles, as full-time custodial employee, at an hourly rate of $16.10, effective Jan. 5; Alexis Miller, as full-time paraprofessional, at an hourly rate of $15.85, effective Jan. 15; Brittni Heiligman, as a school bus driver; Raymond Paulhamus, as event staff and school bus driver, effective Jan. 15; Brittany Naculich as an assistant band director for the 2025-2026 school year; a salary adjustment to of $50,000 for Janette Lacomba, technology specialist, due to increased responsibilities, effective Jan. 15; the termination of full-time custodial employee John Ziminski, effective Dec. 15, 2025, and the resignations of James Newcomer, substitute cleaning attendant, effective Dec. 11, 2025; and Cheryl Creveling, paraprofessional, effective Jan. 23.
The board also approved an addendum to the agreement between the district and Loyalsock Township Act 93 Support Personnel to add the position of director of public relations to the agreement.
“This position originally came before a school board at Loyalsock in 2017 to advertise for the director of public relations and foundation executive director position,” Beiter explained.
“At the time, that position was partially filled for about two years and remained dormant. Based on the assessment of our strategic needs in the district and the ongoing need for increased communication, it became a strategic goal for this school year to establish communication systems and sustain them in the district,” she continued.
Data gathered from recent surveys also identified challenges in communication, Beiter said.
“As part of my entry plan, I’d like to propose we re-establish this position within the district and our Act 93 Support Services Agreement to meet those needs that our parents and families have desired, for clear and consistent update accessibility and responsiveness and an interest to relational and community based engagement,” the superintendent said.
The next school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
