James J. Carpenter, Jr

James J. Carpenter, Jr., 77, of Cogan Station, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his home. Born January 5, 1948, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late James J. Carpenter, Sr. and Marion (Hawkins) Carpenter.

James Graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1965, and continued his education at Lock Haven University, achieving a bachelor’s degree in education. He then furthered his education at Penn State University. In his free time, James loved to spend time outdoors fishing, hunting, and shooting.

He is survived by a sister, Judith Carpenter, of Flemington; two sisters-in-law, Jill (David) Kilburn, of Cogan Station, and Jean McGavin, of Tunkhannock; a brother-in-law, Forrest “Pike” (Diann) Johnston, of Trout Run; and eight nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Marybeth (Johnston) Carpenter.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services held at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
