Phyllis Ruth (Turner) Dow

Phyllis Ruth (Turner) Dow was born on Oct. 30, 1943, in Buffalo, N.Y. After her father, Willis Turner, returned from WWII, he and his wife, Ruth (Hooftallen) and their new daughter returned to Austin, where she attended the local school, graduating in 1961.
On July 31, 1965, she married Douglas M. Dow, also of Austin. Although Phyllis worked at various jobs and volunteered at several locations throughout the years, her dearest job was raising her family with her husband, Doug, and enjoying time with family and friends.
In Oct. 2000, Phyllis was granted the miracle of 25 additional years of life through the generous donation of a kidney from her sister, Dale (Turner) Hunsinger. Her family is forever grateful.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Ruth; and her husband Douglas. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Dow and Tracey Dow; sisters, Dale (Jerry) Hunsinger and Peggy (Duane) Dow; in-laws, Dean and Cathy Dow, Danny Dow and Doris Dow; along with innumerable nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects, Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East Street, Coudersport, PA 16915. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., and burial will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery, Austin.
Family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Rd, Lock Haven, PA 17745, or a charity of your choice.
