Gerald D. “Jerry” Rhodes, D.C.

Gerald D. “Jerry” Rhodes, D.C., age 89, of Hughesville, Pennsylvania died Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Born May 2, 1936, in Armbrust, PA, Westmoreland County, in the Armburst Homestead Log House dated 1832, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary Belle (Alexander) Rhodes. In 1942 Jerry attended the “Weaver Old School”, and in 1952 he had his first employer, the John Wilkinson Nursery. Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Youngwood High School, and at age 18 ¢, joined the Pennsylvania National Guard, serving seven years attaining the rank of Seargeant. In 1957 Jerry worked for the Overmyer Mould Company in Greensburg, PA, and then soon moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1960, where he attended Blackhawk Community College. In 1963 he graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Moline, Illinois, attaining a degree of Doctor of Chiropractic. Jerry then moved to Montoursville, PA, and in 1963 established his chiropractic office where he served the public for 50 years. He became the Assistant Director with Living Principles Chiropractic Seminar in 1967.

Jerry married Phyllis J. (Green) Andrews and shared 33 years of life together, until her passing on September 9, 2021. Jerry and Phyllis enjoyed motorcycle touring, including all 48 states, Mexico, the Canada Border, and Nova Scotia. His hobby was restoring cars. Jerry enjoyed singing and playing country music.

Surviving is a son, Lorne (Gina) Rhodes of Muncy; two daughters, Shanna (Todd) Simpson of Muncy, and Christa DeAngelo of Williamsport; two stepdaughters, Yvonne (Larry) Cutter of Oklahoma, Yvette (Dave) Butz of Stillwater; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; and a sister Shelby Calderone of Greensburg, PA.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St. Hughesville, PA, with Rev. Dan Cale officiating. Military honors will be accorded by various local veteran’s organizations. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a future date at Central Cemetery, Greensburg, PA.
