Eleanor R. Pauling
Eleanor R. Pauling, 84, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025 at her home.
Born June 21, 1941 in Binghamton, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Clarkson) Holmes. On July 27, 1968 she married James A. Pauling and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Eleanor was a graduate of Binghamton High School, and later from Columbia Bible College. After graduation she worked at Triple Cities Credit Bureau in Binghamton, before moving to Lycoming County and serving as a Director at Child Evangelism Fellowship in Williamsport. Once her children got older, she then worked as a substitute teacher at Watsontown Christian Academy, and also taught Spanish.
She was a very active member at First Baptist Church of Elimsport; performing various duties such as the children’s church director, taught Sunday School and bible school, woman’s missionary club and missionary group. She loved listening to music and enjoyed producing Christmas shows every year.
Most of all she cherished all the time she spent with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by her three sons, William R. Pauling and his wife Caren, of CT, Brian J. Pauling and his wife Laura, of NH, and Philip A. Pauling and his wife Susan, of VA; nine grandchildren, Dan, Meghan, Rylee, Trevor, Evan, Elliot, Mason, Lincoln, and Jennifer; and one sister, Joyce Ross.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Holmes, and sister, Marilyn Marshall.
There will be a viewing held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, at First Baptist Church of Elimsport, 16818 State Route 44, Allenwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, Pastor Todd Baker, officiating. Burial will follow in Elimsport Cemetery.
