Loretta Ryder

Loretta Ryder, 92, of Hughesville, went home to Heaven on Sunday, November 23, 2025 while surrounded by her family at Wolf Run Village.

Born September 12, 1933 in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late Randolph and Mary (Murray) Fry. On June 29, 1957 she married Paul W. Ryder. Loretta and Paul lived in Muncy and later Loretta moved to Hughesville. They enjoyed their many February trips to Myrtle Beach with close friends and family; along with many family trips to California. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage before Paul passed away on March 14, 2006.

Loretta was a 1951 graduate of Muncy High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Bloomsburg State Teachers College. Loretta was a teacher at Ward L. Myers Elementary School, Muncy, spending most of her years teaching fourth grade, but making a switch to second grade toward the end of her career, retiring in 1991.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Muncy for over 70 years, where she participated with the Widow’s Mite Group. Loretta was member of the Pennsylvania Association School Retirees, the Lycoming County Retired Teachers Association and a previous member of the Muncy Business Women’s Organization.

She loved spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren. A clock watcher she was, keeping her entire family on schedule.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sheri Ryder, recently of Williamsport; their sons, Chad and Joni Ryder and Hayden and Caitlin Ryder and 8 great-grandchildren; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Martin McCabe, of Hughesville; their four children, Todd “TJ” and Alyson McCabe, Martina and Nick Cunningham, Matthew McCabe and Kelsey and Madison Foreman, and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Marvin Fry.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3 at the First United Methodist Church of Muncy, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Richard Robinson and grandson, Pastor TJ McCabe, officiating.

Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Loretta’s name be made to the church.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
