Robert W. “Bob” Burkholder

Robert W. “Bob” Burkholder, 93, a longtime resident of Muncy, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at home with his family by his side.

Born March 18, 1932, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Carl and Viola (Speary) Burkholder. On August 5, 1967, he married the former Joanne Houseknecht, who survives. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Muncy High School. He served honorably in the United States Army, with an additional seven years in the Reserves. He worked for 13 years at Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, and later retired from the State Correctional Institute in Muncy after 27 years. He was known for his integrity and dedication; always ready to assist a person in need.

At every opportunity, Bob went fishing or hunting locally or while traveling on the job. During his retirement, he made many friends and acquaintances at different coffee clubs nearly every day of the week.

Bob was of the Christian faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne and Frank Barnes, of Warrenton, VA; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Suzanne Burkholder, of Muncy; and two grandsons, Matthew Barnes and Trevor Barnes.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, November 10 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St. Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with James Girven officiating. Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to Geisinger Hospice for providing exceptional care and comfort for Bob in his final months.

Flowers will be provided by the family and they suggest contributions in Bob’s memory be made to the Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Company, 932 E. Penn St. Muncy, PA 17756.
