Deanne M. McGavin
Deanna M. McGavin, 87, of Cogan Station, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Valley View Nursing Home with her sister, Lynell Whitnach, by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Clayton A. “Murph” McGavin with whom she shared 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2019.
Deanna was born October 26, 1938 in Towanda to the late George D. and Hazel V. (Adams) Way.
She was a 1956 graduate of Wyalusing High School.
Before retiring from Williamsport Hospital, Deanna was a registered EKG technician for many years.
Deanna volunteered for the American Rescue Workers, the Gatehouse, as well as many other organizations within her community.
She was a member of VFW 7863, Ladies Auxiliary in Duboistown, lifetime member of Wyalusing American Legion in Wyalusing and member of 40 & 8.
Deanna had a very generous personality and was happiest doing for others. She was an avid baker making personalized cakes for family, friends and coworkers. She also enjoyed gifting her love of photography by capturing many beautiful moments over the years.
Mrs. McGavin is survived by her children, Michael McGavin of South Williamsport and Ann Marie “Annie” Pierce (Willie) of Canal Winchester, OH; and was the proud Grammie of three grandchildren, Kristen Griffin-Pierce (Nate) of Pickerington, OH, Scott Pierce (Emily) of New Orleans, LA and Grace Pierce of Canal Winchester, OH; and Great Grammie of Deacon Murphy Griffin-Pierce.
Also surviving are her brothers, David Way (Ruth) of Shady Side, MD, Tom Way (Susan) of Lawton, OK, and “her Hero” Rob Way (Kay) of Wyalusing; sisters, Kay Mohney of Dunkirk, MD, and Lynell Whitnach of South Williamsport; sister-in-law, Jeannie McGavin of Tunkhannock; brother-in-law, Bob Morris of Sugar Grove; God-son, Barry Eisley of Cogan Station; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends she considered family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Donna Morris, and brother-in-law’s, Raymond McGavin and Bill Mohney.
A visitation to honor the life of Deanne will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Deanna’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or an organization of your choice.
