William (Bill) D. McGuire

William (Bill) D. McGuire passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and challenging journey with ALS.

Bill leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy Grausam, and together they shared a loving family that includes their children, Michael C. Grausam (Mariell Villa Grausam) and Meredith Boatwright, and their cherished grandchildren, Natalie and Nicolas Grausam.

Born on February 12, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, Bill lived a life defined by loyalty, determination, creativity, and quiet strength. From 1973 to 1976, Bill served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He took great pride in his many years of service with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, from which he retired. His respect for the land extended into his personal life, where he lovingly designed, built, and cultivated a beautiful backyard oasis that reflected his creativity and craftsmanship.

Bill was a man of remarkable discipline and impressive talent, earning his 2nd Dahn Black Belt in Hapkido at nearly 70 years old. An elite and highly competitive pool player, he achieved victories at the state, national, and global levels, including competing in the 9-Ball U.S. Open. Bill also enjoyed a good challenge–whether completing the New York Times crossword puzzle each day or persistently, and often with good humor, trying to become the family euchre champion. A devoted sports fan, he was especially passionate about Notre Dame football, faithfully cheering them on whether in person or from home. Bill especially treasured camping and traveling with his beloved Nancy, visiting many states and national parks together.

Above all, Bill will be remembered for his steady nature, generous heart, and the way he loved fully and without condition. His presence brought calm, humor, and reassurance to those around him, and his legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.

A private graveside service was held. The family is grateful for the love and support of friends during this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty~Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
