Gary (GeGe) Burkhart
Gary (GeGe) Burkhart died February 17, 2026, at UPMC at the age of 72.
Gary was born on July 17, 1953, in Montoursville, PA, the son of the late Dorsey and June (Andrews) Burkhart. In 2011, he married Kirsten (Felix) Burkhart.
He attended Montoursville High School and the Williamsport Area Community College. He indulged his love of all things electronic by working as a manager at Radio Shack for many years. Subsequently, he volunteered at and eventually worked as an Administrator for West House Personal Care Home.
A huge history buff, Gary enjoyed sharing his considerable knowledge of the Civil War with everyone within earshot (whether they wanted to hear it or not). He also enjoyed barbershop quartet music, tinkering with his ham radio, and watching “A Hunt for Red October” on an endless loop. His interest in genealogy led him to join the Sons of the American Revolution (Tiadaghaton Chapter), where he served as past Secretary. He was also a dedicated volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, the Sons of the American Legion, and AIDS Resource.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Jennifer Bucher (Scott) of Selinsgrove; son, Matthew (Kristin) of Montrose; grandchildren, Madison Bucher, Michael Bucher and Heidi Burkhart; sister-in-law, Kara Walter (Andrew) (Natrona Heights); brother-in-law, Kevin Felix (Stamatina) (Ridgewood, NJ); nieces, Alexandra Shea (Washington DC), Nicole Shea (Michael Kerner) (Trumbull, CT), Hadley and Kendall Walter (Natrona Heights); nephews, William Felix (Hoboken, NJ) and Andrew Felix (New York City) and many beloved cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Nancy (Silvagni) Burkhart.
The family is profoundly grateful to Dr. David Rolston for his unparalleled skill, kindness, and steadfast compassion, the empathetic staff of the Independent Dialysis Group for their exceptional care and kindness, and local volunteer fire companies (Hughesville, Muncy, Picture Rocks) for their assistance. The family would also like to acknowledge the support of friends Jessica Annis, Paul Burkhart, Rich Carpenter, Mary Crawley, Jennifer D’Urso, Stanley (Skip) Eck, Helen Greklek, Amy Harada, Theresa Hrzic-Colimon, and Erin and Bob Mitchley.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to AIDS Resource (500 W 3rd Street, Williamsport, PA, 17701).
