Sonja G. Harper
Sonja G. Harper, 85, of Montgomery, died Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 27, 1940, in Corning, NY, she was a daughter of the late Lincoln LeBarron and Hazel LeBarron (Harrison). Sonja attended Campbell Central High School in Campbell, NY. She was employed as a laborer with Grumman Factory for over 20 years.
Sonja was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed embroidering, sewing, and working with wood. She enjoyed photography and thrifting and especially loved her two dogs, Bindi Sue and Conway, who were her life. Sonja loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters, Tammy (Calvin) Wertz, of Muncy, and Cricket (Mark) Hauke, of Montgomery; son, Chris (Darla) Harper, of Montgomery; brother, Sidney LeBarron of Muncy; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. Sonja is also survived by her longtime buddies, Roxy and Dottie. Her family would also like to thank Lydia and Randi from UPMC Hospice for their care and compassion to Sonja over the past few weeks.
Aside from her parents, Sonja is also preceded in death by her former husband, Thomas D. Harper, Jr.; sister, Shirley Poust; brother, Earl LeBarron; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Brown.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home – Hughesville, 557 E. Water Street. Burial will follow at Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
