Marjorie Fantaskey

Marjorie Fantaskey, 96, of Montoursville, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.

Born July 3, 1929, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late John “Max” and Lillian (Westberg) Winner.

She was a graduate of the South Williamsport High School and fondly remembered teen summers at Mountain Beach and swimming in the river with friends. After graduation, she worked for Bethlehem Wire Rope as an administrative assistant. She also spent many years as Montoursville’s borough tax collector, where her kindness and gentle spirit earned her many friends. Marjorie was a person of quiet but impactful faith who often joyfully recalled childhood worship at Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport and Bethany Lutheran in Montoursville.

She was most dedicated to creating a happy home for her beloved husband, Donald “Butch” Fantaskey, and her children, but she also enjoyed reading, playing cards and board games, working on puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

She is survived by her two daughters, Beth Kaszuba, of Lewisburg, and Amy (Kris Peterson) Fantaskey, of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Maxine Lloyd, of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Annika Peterson, Paige Kaszuba, Mei Kaszuba, and Hope Kaszuba.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband and a sister, Maryetta Farren.

A prayer will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, with Rev. James I. Bartlett officiating. Friends may call from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to W.B. Konkle Memorial Library, where the staff made Marjorie smile each time she visited; any hospice organization; or Bethany Lutheran Church. Doing even a small act of kindness would also greatly honor her memory.

The family would like to thank Marjorie’s strong support network in Montoursville, a community whose thoughtful members made her older years at home possible.
