Gene was born on October 2, 1936 to Leo and Anna Rider. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School before serving in the US Army. He dedicated his career to Faxon Lumber Company, working initially in the lumber yard, and later co-managing the business with his brother Tom. He was an active member of the West Branch Motor Boat Association, and spent many summers cruising the Susquehanna River with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling with family to Arizona, Alaska, Montana, NYC, and Las Vegas.
