False idol
President Trump enjoys portraying himself as a great friend of Christians; his latest move: changing long precedent with regard to separation of church and state. I was raised going to church and know my Bible. Even though I may not be what some people consider a religious person, I am deeply offended when religion is used politically to claim that a political figure was saved by God to save the country! I think it is shameful. Being familiar as I am with the Bible (yes, I actually read it as literature), I strongly believe the Lord did not save anyone to have His children torn away from their crying, terrified babies by heavily armed, masked men, then locked in cages without clean water or medicine. (I agree with removing the criminals only, but don’t terrorize their children.) This does not in any way resemble anything I read about Jesus’ teachings. Nothing this administration has done resembles His teachings. For instance, right now $6 billion is being held back from after-school and summer programs, money that was already approved and budgeted. $1 billion was cancelled that was to be sent to local food banks. 500 tons of food sitting in warehouses was destroyed rather than send it to starving children, 1.5 million of them who would have eaten for a week. As of my writing, 360,000 deaths and counting can be attributed to our rescinding our decades-long programs that helped prevent disease and feed people around the world, and provide food, water and medicine when natural disasters occur, spreading the influence of a caring democracy to help build other democracies.
Let’s look at other examples that don’t jive with what is being claimed. It was promised during the campaign that a file would be released, exposing names of prominent people involved with a very famous pedophile who is now passed, but now they are being protected, and the agency that investigates child sex trafficking was just eliminated by his State Department! I think one of our greatest responsibilities is to protect our children. Yet the Department of Education is being eliminated.
To continue, I was taught to help people who have less than I have, but a bill was passed to give money to people with more than 99% than the rest of us, and taking it from us, and now due to new HUD guidelines being proposed, 1.5 million low income Americans are at risk of losing their homes.
None of these examples, and there are many more, seem Christian to me. And the man who God supposedly saved from death to save our country? He calls people horrible names and insults anyone who disagrees with him, setting a terrible example for our young ones. For Mike Johnson to go on television to say it was divine providence, and that the president has a right to say it every day, is nothing but a political stunt.
I think it is important to point out that if the President was saved by the Lord, as they claim, then certainly he would follow the Lord’s Word: “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself” Galatians 5:14
