When the Democrats were in charge of the House, Nancy Pelosi told legislators that if they wanted to know what was in a bill, they had to vote for it first, and then they could find out. For a Democrat House Speaker, that’s pretty funny since it sounds like North Korea. But now that Democrats don’t control the House, they read the entire 900-page Big Beautiful Bill out loud to the House before the vote. That was funny, too, because such communist comedy exposes radical so-called Democrats to public view. Besides, it’s always pleasant to see what a little real democracy can do for distemperately loud and despotically rude totalitarian “democratic” types.

Even better, if the current Democratic leadership remains in the minority for a refreshing leisurely duration, they might also relearn their American political politeness and partisan temperance. And school won’t be hard since they’ll have such excellent contemporary teachers: the President, the House and Senate majorities, and an originalist Supreme Court majority, all placed in office as democratic representatives by a democratic majority of Americans to serve American democracy.
