Emergency response time
If you have a 911 emergency, whether it be police, fire, or medical, how long should it take for a response? 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15? I’m sure it varies depending on location and nature of the emergency.
What if a water main breaks? One hour and 20 minutes? That’s exactly what happened this past Sunday when a main burst on Vallamont Drive.
I’m sure most people, myself included, would find 80 minutes totally unacceptable. But gee, it was a Sunday. OK, there’s a 1 in 7 chance that an infrastructure related problem will happen on a Sunday. I hope the WMWA develops an action plan to improve their response time, even if the emergency happens on a weekend.
BTW, kudos to the Williamsport Police Department who were on the scene in 10 minutes.
