The challenge from God

The upright exalt a city but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down. Proverbs 11:11 Responding to the rebuttal, (‘The Humanity of all of us,’ 2/17/26) of my letter: ‘The Finger of God,’ January 12, 2026. It is imperative to understand our Founders and history. We must search verifiable facts, with originally sourced material. The minds of millions have been darkened by revisionism. The historical definition of, America being a Christian Nation is: Christianity shaped and molded America, Because America is founded upon Christian principles. We were declared a Christian ...

Selective war on fraud

President Trump recently launched a war on fraud, directing federal agencies to crack down on improper payments. He named VP Vance—dubbed the “Fraud Czar”—to lead a task force, claiming the recovered funds would be “country-changing,” lowering the deficit and taxes. We aren’t fooled. Trump only cares about fraud when it’s committed by people he doesn’t like or don’t benefit him. As the NYT reported, he has granted clemency to more than 70 allies, donors and associates convicted in fraud cases, wiping away more than $700 million in restitution and fines. The pace ...

Tell all of it

In responding to Verna Caruso’s column, she stated that Trump violated the Constitution. Did she ever take into consideration that it was her socialist party who opened our borders, causing a massive invasion in our country? It was the worse violation of our Constitution in the history of the United States. It was her part that had the FBI spy on 400 Americans without a warrant. Another violation! It was the politicized judges that try to block Trump’s every move. Why? Trump is using those tariffs as a bargaining chip to make all countries, including our allies, to lower their ...

Not crime control

As a retired federal agent, I want to thank you for your very logical editorial on the opinion page of the March 26, 2026 Williamsport Sun-Gazette, “ Neighboring state’s gun control push too rushed for comfort.” You clearly set forth how the Democrats have taken over the Virginia state government and pushed through about 20 gun control bills that strip Virginia residents of their Second Amendment gun rights without affecting criminals in any way! The same gun control laws were in effect for all 26 years I carried a federal badge in Massachusetts. Gun control is not crime control. ...

A nation of laws

One benefit of the aging process is the appreciation of homespun wisdom that is packaged and reflected in phrases like, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” Unfortunately, deception has long been the MO of the sitting, second term president. Being honest or displaying integrity doesn’t motivate him, but, likewise, perhaps now, over a decade after his launch into the political arena on the golden escalator at Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, is the nation finally coming to understand the unanticipated and devastating costs of riding the Trump ...

Surrender in Alaska

When Trump met with Putin last year in Alaska, his intent was to make his Russian counterpart “see the light” regarding the war in Ukraine. Instead, I believe it was Putin that showed him the darkness--that autocracy works, and might makes right. Cooperation is not the endpoint of foreign policy; it is subjugation, and that control of oil is the key. This is not strength but surrender with a handshake. In the end, character matters. Perhaps it is the most important thing. SAM STEA Cogan Station Submitted by Virtual Newsroom
